I'm sorry I missed this

Katrina special on Frontline that aired on PBS last night. Frontline's reports are always thorough, thought provoking, and effective. I'm sure this was no different, and was probably as enfuriating as it was interesting. Hopefully it will air again.

After that horrible disaster, so many hoped America would renew its commitment to addresssing the shameful poverty that it revealed. Knowing all too well the attention span of our media, our governemnt, and yes, our citizenry, I knew better. We're already cutting foodstamp programs and medicaid, while once again cutting taxes for the richest among us. The aid promised to New Orleans doesn't seem to be getting there, and the media attention has all but dissapeared. Shame on us.
