Responsibility. Accountability. Common Sense.

That is the mantra that will win elections for the Democrats. I hope Howard Dean and Harry Reid read my blog.

Also, they're gonna need a new leader in the hosue. There's just something a little off-putting about Nancy Pelosi. Don't know what it is. She's just kind of odd.

I'm starting a new feature today: my favorite Congressman and Senator of the week. Stay tuned.

That's like saying the "trust, honor, and generosity" should be the mantra of thieves and criminals.

Politicians hold power for the very reason that they are good at escaping responsibility, accountability, and any vestige of common sense used in the people's favor - Republicans and Democrats alike. It's not a circumstance of their position - it's the reason they're in that position in the first place. Politics almost always attracts those who are of a less than savory nature, ethically speaking.

Nancy "Chardonnay Liberal" Pelosi?

Yeah, she needs to go.

Props to Murtha, but check out my post on the whole situation. The reason the Dems are getting owned is because they really are playing politics - and they're not even channeling any real moral indignation.

Harsh. That's a pretty pessimistic view of human nature. I'm not sure "almost all" people called to public service are of a "less savory nature." I think you'd be surprised at the number of people in governemnt who at least started their careers with good intentions. They're not all power hungry weasels. I'll grant you that once in Washington or the state capital for too long, officials tend to lose sight of the reasons they went there in the first place.

About that mantra, though, I'm just sayin' it would resonate with the American people right now--it's what they want and need to hear. Sure, the Democrats haven't historically been the picture of responsibility, accountability or common sense--but there's going to be a lot of voters looking for an alternative to the Republicans, and they want to hear someone voice thier concerns. People's BS meter with the Bush administartion has finally reached a breaking point; to win the Dems will have to speak directly to that without appearing merely as Bush bashers--much like Bush went around in 2000 claiming he's restore honor and dignity to the White House, without ever mentioning Bill Clinton. But, that's just amoral political advice.
