"Be anxious for nothing."
Driving by a church today, a sign with these words caught my eye and got me thinking.
Anything in life can cause anxiety--your job, your commute, your relationships, the world itself (see: weltschmerz). The desire, nay, the need to somehow find strength and peace within it all unites every human on the planet.
I guess that's how many of us find God. Well, as adults anyway (as children we're told stories by our elders, and with no reason to question them, accept them as fact). Then, we get a little older, a little more skeptical, and slowly form a worldview more reconcilable with our gained experience and knowledge. But, invariably, our spiritual journey leads us to a place yearning for something transcendental--a place where we can be anxious for nothing. Religion fills that void for so many. I wonder if it's possible--with all the seemingly arbitrary grief and suffering in the world--to truly "be anxious for nothing" without the acceptance of faith in a power larger than us?

What has Jesus Christ done for Rob Moran?
The biblical answer: died for my sins and provided salvation.
But, if nothing else, he provides a model of how to live a life of charity, peace, and goodwill.
Does anyone do yoga?
