Keith Olberman is right.
The breakdown of government last week is not a partisan issue. The response at all levels was indefensible. Apologists for the Bush administration’s puzzling inaction need to take a much closer look at the timeline and facts of last week. If they're still unable to understand the woeful and devastating nature of incompetence and negligence, then God help them; their ability to independently and critically view their own government is irrevocably tainted.

the evacuation plan? Not sure what you mean. But, the real problem arose when trying to rescue and care for those unable to evacuate in time. The lack of food, water, law, and order was unacceptable for DAYS after the sotrm and subsequent flooding. There were a handful of National Guardsmen scattered throughout the region, but not anywhere near the number necessary to handle such an unprecedented emergency. Where were all the choppers? The troops? The food? The water? They're there now, but thousands have already died. Michale Brown, the director of FEMA, needs to be fired immediately and President Bush has a lot of explaining to do.
