Bush made baby steps last night.

Before I sign off for the weekend, I'll share some quick thoughts on GDub's PC last night. Strictly on a performance level, I thought it was his best one yet--whatever that means. On the social security issue, he did make some VERY small progress; he at least started to address the main problem, i.e. that there's not enough money in the system to support the benfits we're promised. His private accounts do nothing except divert cash; for the first time last night, he seemed to accept the need to cut benefits for the wealthy. He still seems to think those silly private accounts, however, remain the cornerstone of reform. Ultimately, I think they're a risky diversion. Benefits will need to be cut and the retirement age will need to be raised; there, I said it. Now someone that matters needs to.

This just ain't the Presiednt that's going to fix our energy problem. His solutions--more nuclear energy and drilling in Alaska--are almost laughable. This country is so far behind on this issue, it's shameful.

Anyone watch ABC's post coverage with Joe Biden and Lindsey Graham? Is it just me or does Lindsey Graham look like a shrinking alien?

Off to the beach.
