Draft Imminent?

From a source inside:

"I just got a letter from a buddy down at Ft. Benning. He overheard two Drill Sergeants talking about preperation for a possible draft to start on June 15th. He doesn't know how true it is, but he "overheard" this. The drill Sergeants weren't talking directly to him trying to fuck w/ him. We can only wait and see. It makes sense though. Recruiting numbers are down 30% from a year ago. We were supposed to have a company of 240, and only ended up w/ 102, and graduating 84. That's not uncommon either. Another company was only getting 60. The national guard is doing their third tour in Iraq next year. Hmmmmmmm."

No. Despite my utter lack of faith in the President's sanity, there is no plausible way we will have a draft bill approved by Congress. There are not enough members who do not care about political suicide to make that happen. And with the 2006 elections on the horizon, even more of an incentive not to tank their own careers. Frankly, I don't see it happening.
